From the early days of their youth, JJ & Amanda Sherrill both felt a strong call into ministry. They were both fortunate to have been raised in God fearing, truth teaching homes, and always felt a desire to reach others.
It was at a youth camp in Montgomery, Alabama where Pastor remembers his calling into the ministry. “I can take you to the spot at Pike Road, Alabama where, standing in the altar weeping before God, I felt that nudge from heaven calling me into ministry,” he recalls. “I was 15 years old.”
Before finishing high school, he preached his first sermon at age 18 entitled, “The Danger of 99%.” Shortly he met the love of his life, Amanda. In 1998, God divinely joined these two together.
Soon thereafter, they went to work in their local church in Town Creek, Alabama, serving as Student Pastors. Opportunity knocked once again in 2001, when they were granted the opportunity to serve as Assistant Pastor at a new church plant in Decatur, Alabama. boyz
Once again God began preparing the Sherrill’s for a new area in their ministry. In 2006, Cross Search Ministries was founded, and the family launched into full time evangelism. Traveling through the states, they were blessed to witness the miraculous hand of God at work. Many were healed, delivered, and Spirit filled by God’s grace.
From the beginning of their ministry, the Sherrill’s have always kept their children involved. Their three boys, Chanden, Laken, and Kaden, are the highlight of the Sherrill’s life. “The sacrifices that children have to make in the ministry can sometimes be overwhelming. But as Noah did, we try to keep a hammer in their hand, and keep them busy in the kingdom,” said Pastor Sherrill.
In August 2009, Greater Faith welcomed an evangelist into their pulpit for a weekend service. A weekend service turned into a 3 week revival. And by divine order, the Sherrill’s were elected as Senior Pastors in December. Pastor Sherrill concluded, “I stand in awe of God’s goodness, and am honored to serve the people of Ironton, Ohio. I desire to see this city impacted by the Spirit of God, and I believe everyone belongs at GFAC. Jesus is the answer for this city, and the answer can be found at GFAC.”
